Heatwave no sweat for fundraising champion

7 November 2018

An Olympic-distance triathlon in 35 degree temperatures may not sound like fun, but for CF supporter Tim it just added to the excitement and challenge of the event.

In August, Tim competed in the 10th Gay Games held in Paris, supporting his niece Kelea who has CF by raising $1,061 for CFNZ.

Based in Melbourne, Tim was one of three Australians and one Kiwi who competed in the triathlon, finishing the 1500m swim, 40km cycle and 10km run in just under an impressive three hours.

“The games were great, and I was really happy with how I did. I'd been training almost every day for nine months from zero triathlon experience and being able to complete an Olympic-distance triathlon in that setting was really rewarding,” Tim says.

Tim was joined by 10,000 other athletes from around the world competing in 36 sports and events, including basketball, ice-hockey, petanque and tennis. Tim used the event as a way to continue to support people with CF and raise awareness.

“I’ve raised funds for people with CF in Australia before, but because Kelea is in New Zealand I wanted to support CFNZ this time.”

Thank you Tim – your support and fundraising efforts are appreciated by CFNZ and our community!
