Fundraiser Spotlight

Team Barr supporting Cantabrians with CF

Geoffrey and Rebecca Barr from Ashburton are getting off the couch and out of their comfort zone to run the South Island Half Marathon to raise funds for CFNZ Canterbury Branch.

“We were challenged last year when participating in the Sweatember campaign that if we could raise over $1,000, we would have to complete a half marathon”.

The duo ended up raising a whopping $1,669 last year - and are now honouring the half marathon challenge at Lake Hood on 7 August.

“We believed it would be a great opportunity to create a way of bringing some strong awareness around what cystic fibrosis is and why it is important to get support out there to the families who are going through this daily.

“We have a strong sense of family and nephews that live with cystic fibrosis every day, so we wanted to get more support for our family and many more families in the same position”.

The money raised is in support of CFNZ Canterbury and will go towards the Breath4CF fund. Breath4CF is a physical activity grant that every person with cystic fibrosis has access to, and helps promote lung health through staying active.
