Applications are open for the 2019 Mark Ashford Scholarship and CFNZ is delighted to announce TeflerYoung as the new sponsor.

Thank you to Mark Passey, the CF adult representative on the CFNZ Board who is the owner/director of TelferYoung (Tauranga) Limited. In 1999, Mark won the Mark Ashford Scholarship and he understands the challenges people with CF face.

CFNZ would also like to thank and acknowledge Tasman Insulation, manufactures of Pink Batts, who has funded the scholarship for the past 22 years in memory of Mark Ashford. Mark had CF and passed away in 1996 after making a huge contribution to home health with his work on the Fletcher Group’s Health Homes book.

“I’m blown away the scholarship is still going after 22 years,” say Kathryn Ashford, Mark’s widow.

“It means a lot to our family, and my children have grown up with the annual award which honoured their father which was a huge comfort.”

The Mark Ashford Scholarship is awarded each year to a person with CF who has shown excellence in their tertiary study and/or has shown tenacity in overcoming the trials of CF while studying. The scholarship is based on previous academic results and recipients are awarded $3,000.
