Incredible support for Everest Challenge in Waihi

In February Emma Overdevest and Sara Harris-Ellis set a small target to raise $2000 for CFNZ Bay of Plenty and to help support a new preschooler with CF at their Beach Kids preschool.

From February 20th to April 21st Beach Kids staff, families and the wider community put themselves to the challenge to climb the equivalent of Mount Everest. They challenged themselves to walk the Waihi Beach Trig 48 times over a 60-day period. On day 60, Saturday April 21 there was an open day at the trig and a celebration at the Waihi Beach Hotel.

Because exercise and salt air are so important and beneficial to people with CF and their survival, this Everest Challenge at Waihi Beach was chosen as an appropriate way to raise funds, awareness and show support for the individuals and families who are challenged every day and climbing their own mountains each day.

The incredible support for the challenge has seen an outstanding $14,000 raised! Thanks so much to everyone involved – this will be a huge help to the branch.
