Taking a punt at the Hawke’s Bay fundraiser

1 September 2019

The 6th annual Hawke’s Bay casino fundraiser proved yet again to be a successful night, with everyone who attended embracing the masquerade theme.

On 24th August, people enjoyed a few hours trying their luck on the gambling tables while supporting the local cystic fibrosis community. Following the gambling, Nick Laing spoke to guests, sharing his experience of living with cystic fibrosis. This was a great opener before the auction was kicked off once the tables had closed.

The first item up for auction was a piece of artwork made and donated by Rylee, a 13-year-old with CF. Rylee’s grandmother Glenda was one of the many guests blown away when a generous bidder opened the bidding at $500. Also up for auction was a luxury stay at the Cape Farm Resort (or Kauri Cliffs), an amazing selection of honey products and a weekend in a tranquil log cabin.

Thank you to the many individuals and organisations who helped make the evening a huge success. And a big thank you from the Cystic Fibrosis Hawke’s Bay branch to Cath for her hard work organising the event each year.

Whether you won big or lost it all on the tables on the night, the money raised will help ensure we can continue to support PWCF in the Hawke’s Bay area.
