Golfing success for Canterbury

13 November 2018

Golfers were treated to some good weather and a lot of laughs at the annual Charity Golf Tournament held at the Templeton Golf Club on 2 November.

A field of 68 players competed in this year’s event. The Ambrose format of play with a shotgun start added to the fun and each team finished about the same time, apart from the usual stragglers.

The tournament couldn’t have been a success without generous support from our community. Team Hutchinson Ford, Car Wash Café and Pit Stop provided a golf hole sponsorship and our regular golf team ran the day like a well-oiled machine. Many players also generously donated prizes and auction items.

Our auction is always run from an auctioneer from Harcourts and this year Mark McGoldrick from Harcourts Holmwood did a sterling job revving up the punters who paid some very good money for our auction items.

One of our CF adults Juliet organised a pink wheelbarrow full of items including plants, vouchers and drink bottles. This sold for $350 and one of the players was very excited to take it home for his wife. Thank you Juliet for your hard work in sourcing all these items.

Thank you also to our new committee member Allister Anderson who was a star on the BBQ!

Thanks to support from sponsors, players and the community we raised over $6,000 which will be used to continue to support children and adults with CF in Canterbury.
