Breathe

 Hundreds of people enjoyed attending BREATHE...a celebration of song and dance in support of Cystic Fibrosis at Te Papa July 7^th and 8^th.

There were some truly magical and enchanting performances from the eight Royal New Zealand Ballet dancers and three professional singers. Favourite excerpts from A Chorus line, Sleeping Beauty, The Phantom of the Opera and Swan Lake were performed along with an eclectic mix of other show stopping numbers.

We’d like to thank Pub Charity for giving CFANZ the money to produce this show, which has had a huge impact on the Wellington community and raised lots of awareness for our cause. Other businesses in support were Stephen A’Court Photography, RNZB, Eftpos NZ, Ticketek, TE PAPA, Molly Malones, The Dominion Post, Music Planet, Starfish, Voon and Flowers by Zelda, and we’d love it if you could show your support of these businesses in return.

We included our very own CF star Eva (from Wellington) in the show. This courageous little ten year loves ballet and dreams of being a dancer like the RNZB stars when she’s older. Eva made her debut in the finale and did a few ballet moves before being lifted into the air by two male dancers then handing the beautiful flowers out to the female performers then taking a bow.

This project was the dream of Medhi Angot, a RNZB member originally from France, and along with a group of very talented friends made this event possible through hours, days and weeks of rehearsals and hard work. THANK YOU maybe only to small words, but they are very heartfelt for the passion and drive they all showed. I’m sure they will continue to be CF Ambassadors in the future as they were all very touched by our cause. The event made $15,000 and the awareness gained is priceless. People are calling for this to become an annual edition to the CF events calendar, and if it is, you should definitely circle it in your diary as the place to be!
